A Day in My Life: Business Travel Edition

In my new role, I don't have typical days anymore. But I have had a couple of people ask me about my new job, what it is like to travel for work, and how I balance everything (I don't), so I took some time yesterday to snap photos throughout my day. I'll do one of these for a "typical" day in Seattle, too, as they can be quite different!

My day started at 4:30am, when I had to get up, shower, and get ready to head to the airport:

Took a quick outfit snap on my phone with chaos in the background as I won't be taking outfit pics today:

From 7-7:50am, I found myself on the airplane, reviewing a report for work on my iPad before landing:

View didn't change much in the next couple of hours, but the location did - got my rental car, drove to a Starbucks near my first meeting to catch up on email and schedule a couple of meetings:

Then it was off to meet with a customer and do a bit of training on our new UI (user interface).  We (my sales engineer Josh is with me for this trip) hung out down in a small windowless lab for ~2 hours with three of their guys teaching them all about the new product capabilities:

After that we needed to grab some lunch. We thought we were going to sushi, but then we noticed it had closed and some place called Big Little Burger was there instead, so we figured we'd give it a try:

Then to a Peets for more working between meetings. We're down here specifically to do a big data review for a customer in the middle of a product evaluation, so that means lots of prep-work:

After that, we headed to happy hour with a partner at Hopworks Urban Brewery - I got the guys all beers and pizza while I snacked on a beef skewer, since I was going to see my sister for dinner after the happy hour:

Off to see sissy, and we head to a little bistro near her house for a cocktail and some dinner:

Then it's time to drive to my hotel, get checked in, and review some email before bed. It's raining here, of course, but the white lights throughout the city are my favorite:

Upgraded to a corner room with a huge jacuzzi tub (that will sit unused - just no time this trip). It has a nice big desk where I'll be spending my time when I'm not snoozing in that super comfortable bed:

And that's it. After an hour of email, I'm EXHAUSTED (remember, I've been up since 4:30am) and I crash hard. SO hard that I waited until this morning to write this post - I just couldn't stay up to do it last night!
