London Work Week Two

Time for my recap of week two in London. Can't believe how fast this last week has gone, and tomorrow I actually fly home. Still have a bunch of things I want to do and a few things I need to do, but I know that there's always next time. Oh - and don't forget - Third Thursday Threads is TOMORROW, so hope you're working on that summer must-have post so that you can link up!

Day 12 - Monday 9 June: Up early, go for a jog in Kensington Park. Shower. Laundromat to actually wash some clothes (not using the sink this time).

Back "home" to do some work and eat lunch. Then over to a partner office for a meeting (this one is walking distance!).

Pants: Nordstrom, Shoes: Adam Tucker | Me Too,
Cardigan: LOFT (similar), Tank: Nordstrom Rack (similar)

Their office is awesome, and near Little Venice, so afterwards, I walk around and see the little canal boats.
Back "home" to finish up some email before team dinner. (Queensway to Holborn on Central Line) Eat at Isolabella with the team. Then to a pub for a pint. Then to another pub (the first one closed) for a water before parting ways. FaceTime with Trav, then zzzzzzz.

Day 13 - Tuesday 10 June: Wake up and learn that my morning meeting has been cancelled. Work in hotel room for a while, then head out to a cafe to work. Lunch meeting still on, so head there (Bayswater to Baker Street on Circle Line). The Marylebone area is adorable, so I enjoy a quick walk around after my lunch with a partner.
Then off to another cafe for more work before walking back home. Beautiful day. Calls go late (not done till 10pm), so no dinner for me. FaceTime with Trav, then head to bed.

Day 14 - Wednesday 11 June: Wake up and read another note from Trav. They are really the best things everβ€”if you ever have a significant other take a long trip, send them with notes to read on specific days. Get ready and head to partner office where I spend all day (same partner as last Wednesday, Central Line to Chancery Lane).

Dress: LOFT (similar), Shoes: Steve Madden, Necklace: BP (similar, love this one too!)

The team is young and we focus on the basics, making cold calls and handling objections. It takes me back to my early days in my job. Run out for a quick sandwich at Pret, and then back in for the afternoon. Walk over to Covent Garden to pick our CEO up a cookie at Ben's Cookies (a definite must in London!) and then head into the tube - Leicester Square to South Kensington on the Piccadilly Line.
Finally beat the game I've been addicted to on my tube rides (2048). Meet the team at Cafe Brindisa for dinner, then "home" (South Kensington to Bayswater on Circle Line) for a quick FaceTime with Trav before bed.

Day 15 - Thursday 12 June: Wake up and realize that a week from today, I head home. Think about Third Thursday Threads and finalize my theme announcement post. Quick jog around the park, but it's already unbearably hot out.
Hairstyle idea from Twist Me Pretty

Shower, head out to work in a cafe before meeting Owen and a partner for mid-day meetings (Queensway to Liverpool Street on Central Line).

Skirt: Nordstrom (similar), Tee: Nordstrom, Sandals: DV Dolce Vita

Lunch with Owen in a sunny business plaza, and then our partner comes to meet us. The sunshine feels amazing!
A lazy stroll back once I'm finished and then a few calls before heading to see Once at the Phoenix Theater. If you haven't seen the movie, watch it. If the live version comes to your town, get tickets. It was so great.
I thought it was especially cool that they let people buy drinks at the bar on the actual stage before the show and during the intermission. Back "home" and to bed immediately after.

Day 16 - Friday 13 June: Wake up and quick jog. Shower and prep for early train ride & meeting.

Pants: Nordstrom**, Tee: Nordstrom (gift, similar), Shoes: Bandolino

Queensway to Oxford Circus on Central, transfer to Bakerloo to Waterloo. Train to Guildford.
Owen picks me up, then three hours spent with partner planning 2H strategic activities. Back to train station, back to apartment. Lots of calls today with teams back home, going late into the night again.

Dress: Old Navy, Shoes: DV Dolce Vita

Stroll around town, watch some soccer in a pizza place while snacking on some pizza, back to my room to binge-watch the final 4 episodes of Heroes season one before bed.

**Side note: these are my first slouchy track pant-like dress pants for work. I got them during the Nordstrom sale and they are now on sale for $30! I've seen women who are far skinnier, taller, or who don't have hips like I do wear them well, and I thought I'd never be able to pull them off, but I actually love the way they ended up looking. For those of you afraid to try them, find a pair, head into a fitting room, and give it a shot - you never know!
