Closet Essentials

I'm not the best at buying closet essentials. I tend to love certain pieces and buying them outweighs my desire to add the "basics" that I don't yet own. However, I've realized over time that if I never have a desire to reach for something, then it isn't an essential, to me. Learning that has been a tough lesson, but such a valuable one.

I bring this up only because I have realized that while a black blazer was never on my list of closet essentials, I wear this thing constantly. I picked it up on a whim over a year ago, trying to add more black to my wardrobe (I stopped buying black after wearing only black as a hostess at the Cheesecake Factory in college; long story), and trying to get more professional. But what I've found is that I can wear this thing with almost any outfit. And it has become such an essential piece of my wardrobe, I take it on every single work trip I go on, no matter what. Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox, but just remember that your essentials list might not match anyone else's, and that is okay!

So welcome to a new series - over the next few weeks, I'll show you my closet essentials.

Closet Essential #1: Solid Black Blazer

Shirt: Halogen
Jeans: LOFT
Blazer: Nordstrom (similar)
Booties: Hinge (similar)
Necklace: Le Tote (join here)

My first attempt at layering necklaces of a similar length. Thoughts? I got a ton of compliments during the day and really loved how it came together, but I also had a couple people ask if I meant to wear two necklaces, or if it was an accident. Oh well!

He really loves when I force him to take pictures with me. Not :)

Don't forget - this Thursday come back to link up your best Pinspired looks!
