January Budget

After reading Valerie's post to kick off her spending for the new year, I felt like I too should try something different when it comes to my shopping budget. So I decided to try it for a few months. One piece per month, based on what I really, really, really wanted in my closet. This may work for me, and it may not, but I'm at least going to give it a shot for a few months.

With that said, here's what I bought in January:

nothing.

Well, that's not totally true. I ordered this dress in white to wear to a little (wedding party + family) gathering to celebrate our engagement, but when it came it was quite frumpy and much too large on me.

So I think in February I may allow myself two things.

Here are a few of my other rules:
 - I can spend money I make from selling items from my closet on new clothes.
 - I can replace necessities that are ruined (most important for shoes/coats).
 - I can buy things I need for specific activities (for example, in January I got a new pair of hiking boots, but I don't think of those as part of a clothing budget).

Other than that, I'm going to work to create better lists and really evaluate my purchases before I make them.

Linking up with Fran, as always.
