Day Trip: What I Wear

Yesterday I talked all about what I pack in my bag for a day trip, but here's my uniform for what I wear. It's all about layering, of course. Airplanes are freezing, and so is rainy Seattle, so I always make sure to top off the outfit with a jacket that will keep me covered and a bit warm without being a pain to lug around if I'm in a warmer climate during the day. This Banana Republic coat from a couple of years ago is a huge lifesaver; it has a great liner to it that adds some warmth without adding any bulk.

Underneath the coat I keep it pretty simple. A scarf to easily add some warmth (or also to double as a pillow for a nap on the flight) and a cardigan that can be off or on given the climate. The silk shirt underneath doesn't wrinkle and looks polished all dayβ€”same goes for the pants! Finish it up with some comfortable flats and you're good to go all day. I also sneak a pair of socks into my bag in case I get extra chilled on the plane.

These pictures were taken at the end of a long day, and I feel like I still look more put together than some days when I just go into the office, so I guess that's a win. Any questions about work travel or packing? Leave them in the comments!
