Day Trip: What I Wear

Yesterday I talked all about what I pack in my bag for a day trip, but here's my uniform for what I wear. It's all about layering, of course. Airplanes are freezing, and so is rainy Seattle, so I always make sure to top off the outfit with a jacket that will keep me covered and a bit warm without being a pain to lug around if I'm in a warmer climate during the day. This Banana Republic coat from a couple of years ago is a huge lifesaver; it has a great liner to it that adds some warmth without adding any bulk.

Underneath the coat I keep it pretty simple. A scarf to easily add some warmth (or also to double as a pillow for a nap on the flight) and a cardigan that can be off or on given the climate. The silk shirt underneath doesn't wrinkle and looks polished all day—same goes for the pants! Finish it up with some comfortable flats and you're good to go all day. I also sneak a pair of socks into my bag in case I get extra chilled on the plane.

These pictures were taken at the end of a long day, and I feel like I still look more put together than some days when I just go into the office, so I guess that's a win. Any questions about work travel or packing? Leave them in the comments!
