Day Trip: In My Bag

Yesterday I took a quick day trip down to California for a big meeting with a partner. A 6am flight down and a 3pm flight home made for a really quick turnaround, but also meant that I didn't have time to do much freshening up after my flight and before my meetings. Here's what I packed to be sure I'd be presentable and that I'd have everything I'd need for the day:

This Teresa Kathryn bag has been my work bag for 5 years now, and I'm so sad she is no longer making bags. Luckily it is in great shape, so hopefully I'll be using it for a few more years before it needs replacing. There is one on eBay that I'm considering picking up to have on hand for when this one bites the dust.

The inside of the bag holds a ton. It has a laptop pocket as well as a couple of smaller pockets, which I use for things like extra pens, chapstick, hair ties, a nail file, and a few other little necessities. I also keep a spare cell phone charger in there at all times, just in case. In the front pockets I toss my car keys, some business cards, and my cell phone.

I keep my packing for a day trip pretty simple. That top pouch holds my headphones (Skullcandy Aviators in white), and that Mac power adapter, which I need in case the room I'm presenting in doesn't have Mac-ready projectors. My laptop slides into the special pocket, and I always have a notepad & pen, which is what I end up using most often on the road. Sunglasses are a must for a trip to California, these Fendi shades are from Nordstrom Rack.

That wallet has been my go-to for the last three years. I adore Hobo wallets because I can slide my cell phone into one of the pockets and carry just that to lunches where I don't want to lug around my entire bag. Underneath that is my favorite little makeup bag as of late. It is from Kusilife and I love how it stands out against the black and gold interior of my laptop bag. For trips like this, I toss in a mini deodorant, some powder/mascara, and a toothbrush/toothpaste for a quick airport bathroom refresh. I can't recommend this little bag enough - after using it for two months it has become my absolute favorite makeup bag.

Come back tomorrow and I'll share what I wear for a trip like this—it is one of the hardest types of days for me to dress for, but also really fun.
