Guest Post: A Journey in Style

Happy Friday! I'm taking today off to head down to California for the wedding of a college roommate. While I'm gone, Kate was nice enough to step in, and she has an awesome post for you today. I'll be back on Monday with my September shopping budget!

Hi WCIS readers! My name is Kate and I blog at A Journey in Style. I’m really excited to be filling in for Bri while she’s away. I have admired Bri's style since I discovered her blog. Sometimes just reading about her work life makes me want a big girl job, too. I'm currently a grad student, teaching three days a week, and in class the other two days. I now have a good sense of what to wear (and what not to wear) when teaching, but that wasn't always the case.

When I first started teaching, I owned one pair of black pants, a white cowlneck sweater tee, a few polos, and a few cardigans. Since the rest of my closet consisted of mostly jeans and tees, I decided I needed to expand my closet and acquire some "work clothes". I ended up with a lot of clothes I could see myself wearing while teaching, but wouldn't think to wear for any other occasion.

While there is nothing wrong with having clothes specifically for work, or specifically for play, I can tell you that I am much happier with the clothes I have that serve both purposes. Today I want to show you some items I bought specifically for work that I have been able to transition into more casual looks.

I'd love to know: do you have clothes specifically for work and specifically for casual occasions? Or does facility of transition from one occasion to another play a role in your purchasing decisions?

Thanks for reading! I hope you stop by my blog and say hello sometime!
