Overnight Headband Curls Tutorial

I've been doing this for a long time, and there are plenty of tutorials, but when I was thinking about hair tips for Just Jacq's weekly tip link-up, I just had to do my own tutorial for my favorite hairstyle ever: overnight headband curls

So here goes:

1. Start with either dirty hair that you get wet, or freshly washed hair that you let air dry for a while. In this case, I am starting with dirty hair that I'm wetting in the sink. I recommend also putting in some styling gel or mouse of some kind, but since I'm on the road for work, I don't have any this time.

2. Place a sports headband over your hair like a hippie.

3. Grab sections and loop them over and through the headband.

4. When you get to the back, grab the whole pony tail and continue to loop it over and through the headband.

5. Once all wrapped, this is what it should look like.

6. Pull the headband off of your forehead so you don't get a crease. Then head to bed. This may look uncomfortable, but with the right tension of headband, it is actually super easy to snooze like this.

7. Wake up and shower, do your makeup, etc. Whatever it takes to let your hair dry a bit more. Then pull out the headband - carefully.

8. Shake it out, give it another quick round of hairspray.

9. Drink your morning coffee, get dressed, and relax for a bit. Let your curling iron warm up at this point if you want to work out any areas that are too uniform. In the photo above, you can see a pretty strong crease where the headband started. I typically like to curl a couple pieces up high to blend it all together.

10. Style as desired. Today I'm pinning a piece from the front back so that it isn't in my face all day. Sorry for the awful photo to end this all - I wasted a bit too much time reading emails in bed this morning!

That's it! Easy, relaxed curls that were created while I slept!
