It's a Still Sick at Home Kind of Day

Update: Don't forget that this Thursday is Third Thursday Threads: Winter White. Hope you're getting your best whites together so you can link up!

Man, this cold has really knocked me down. I guess when you only get sick once or twice every couple of years, it totally annihilates you when it does happen.

Since I haven't gotten dressed in a couple of days, I thought I'd share a bit from my night with Executive Chef Wayne Johnson from Ray's Boathouse. Ray's is a Seattle institution - it hangs over the water in Ballard and has a deck that has one of the best views in the city of Puget Sound. If you're ever in town, take the trek (it is about 15 minutes outside of the city) - especially if it is a clear day. Definitely worth it.

Anyway, Chef Wayne came over and cooked us a 5 course meal and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. Here's what he made:

Albacore poke on salt & pepper crackers.

Roasted marinated beet salad with bechamel sauce and walnuts.

Herbed quail with fruit risotto.

Short rib with squash puree and crispy brussels sprouts.

Olive oil cake with candied melon.

I don't talk much about it here, but I love to cook, and do so almost every night. I tend to get pretty creative (only because I rarely grocery shop for all of the ingredients I need) and have a lot of fun with trying new things out in the kitchen. While I don't anticipate this ever becoming a full-on food & fashion blog, I may start to introduce you to some of what I do in the kitchen, if you're interested. Let me know in the comments or by shooting me an email.
