I've always loved the look of a long coat over a dress, but I've never had the right pieces to pull it off. Or so I thought. I was walking through downtown Seattle the other day and passed a childhood neighbor on the street. She works for Nordstrom and we keep in touch via social media, but that's about it. And I love her style. On this particular day her hair was slicked back into a low pony, she was wearing a navy dress, and over the dress was a long open structured cardigan. And it made me realize - I have the perfect sweater for that look now!
So of course I wore it the very next day - low pony and all. And loved it:
And yes, that's cat hair on my dress. I apparently had just been holding Amos :/
I love that I realized I can wear this sweater this way, because it totally opens up the potential of the item. Previously I'd thought of it as an awesome piece over leggings or jeans and a tee - a simple topper. I've worn it before for work here, but nothing quite as awesome as this, I think. Now if only I had a good white button-down shirt to layer under it - I've started a focused shopping list and that's one of the things I definitely need to pick up! Any recommendations on that, or other pieces in my list??
