Now that New Years is over, Christmas is all getting packed up. I didn't snap many photos of the decor around here this year (partly because having an extra dog for a couple of weeks meant having a lot of extra stuff around the house) but I did snap a quick photo of my wrapping theme this year. I loved the craft paper with loads of black, white, red, and sparkly silver. I played with washi tape on quite a few of them and loved layering different wrapping paper pieces on top of each other to get a fun layered look. I'm already brainstorming next year based on some wrapping paper I picked up on sale - it's got a ton of forest green in it, so that's going to be the primary focus!
I picked up the beautifully wine-colored Zip-Top Transport Tote from Madewell (c/o Shopbop) during the holidays and it was the greatest little Christmas present to myself. I've been using it for work and I'm loving how it fits my laptop but doesn't feel huge. And the color is SO pretty.
I've been in a total hair rut thanks to the awkwardness of growing out bangs, but I'm finally feeling like I'm reaching the end of the awkward stages. Looking forward to trying some styles like this (I really miss my center part!) and the image below.
For New Years Day, my parents prepared a traditional Danish meal for all of us - or at least, what I've grown up as knowing as a fun Danish meal (please correct me in the comments if you are Danish and I'm totally wrong). My aunt is from Denmark and we've gotten to partake in a celebratory Danish meal with her a few times, and it is my absolute favorite. I'll be doing a post on it later this week, but for now, I found a pretty good write-up online. Basically, lots of pickled herring, hard-boiled eggs, meatballs, and toasting with akvavit constantly!

Did I tell you I got diamond earrings for Christmas?? And a sewing machine?? Seriously, I got so spoiled by my husband on our first married Christmas. Keep an eye out in future outfit photos for some sparkly diamond studs! I used to wear my birthstone almost every day, so having real diamonds feels less matchy-matchy with my wedding ring, which I really appreciate! And a goal of mine for 2016 is to learn to sew - any favorite tips you have? Let me know in the comments!

A full week of content, can you believe it?! A packing post from our weekend at the beach, a look at our Danish meal for New Years Day, and a work outfit, plus some other fun stuff. Looking forward to kicking off 2016 with some more consistency around here!
