I didn't intend to show off all my new purchases all at once, but since Ash and I had a little photoshoot in our super-modern SF airbnb apartment, I just happen to have a bunch of pictures laying around, which is really helpful with all this crazy traveling!
I got this dress at Old Navy and I'm more excited about it for winter than I am for right now. I cannot wait to throw some brown boots, a brown belt, and my leather jacket over this thing and shop downtown with friends. I can't wait to pair it with black leggings and a knit scarf for a coffee date with a friend. I can't wait to try it with a big chunky necklace, blazer, and black boots for the office. It is super short, as you can see in these pictures, so the winter potentials are endless!! Layers, layers, layers! Think I can wear it as a shirt tucked into a skirt??

What do you guys think about styling this dress? Any ideas??

Aww, I love that dress, it's adorable! It reminds me of a J. Crew silk top that was around this summer but got bad reviews for the weird fit, and I'm sure this was much cheaper, so even better! :) I like your ideas of pairing with tights and boots or leggings for winter and of course a chunky scarf, and you can for sure get away with making it into a shirt - especially tucked into a pencil skirt? Still need to try your technique on that! Hmm, other ideas... maybe a cardi and a belt with flats? I would also try some fun arm candy since the sleeves are already 3/4 length - perfect for showing off jewelry without having to push the sleeves up!
ReplyDeleteLove that dress! Old Navy has really been stepping it up in the style game recently. I have the dress in the navy and yellow color. I styled it with a tan blazer and chunky necklace for the office, too! And on the weekend I wore it with a thick brown belt to cinch in the waist.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see you style this dress! The only way I would think of styling it is how you mentioned - tights, scarf, blazer.. Sorry :/ That dress is amazing though. It seems slightly on the short side? Or is it work appropriate as is?

Arm candy for sure! And I think I remember that j crew silk top - when I saw the dress I felt like I had seen it before haha
ReplyDeleteThanks! I had such a hard time picking which one to get but ultimately decided on this one because I already have a casual blue & white dress and didn't want anything too similar. For work ill definitely need to wear something on my legs - short dresses like this make me wish I were petite enough to not need leggings or thick tights!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate! It is definitely too short for work without something on my legs, so I'll have to try a few different options for the office. But some simple boots and a belt should be fine for a weekend. I'll definitely feature it again once I wear it to work!
