I guess it is good news that I completely forgot to do a weekly update last week. This no shopping thing has been easier than I thought it would be! I even went to the mall over the weekend to return a handful of items to Nordstrom and the LOFT, and I didn't even browse the racks—I bee-lined to the checkout, returned my items, and got the heck out!
There are a few things I've been lusting after, though, as the fall items are hitting the stores. Here's my list for this week (and see week one here):
1. Printed Pants.
I'm not going to jump into this trend quite yet, as a lot of the styles seem a bit too over-the-top trendy for my personal style. However, these Wit & Wisdom for Nordstrom dot pants are seriously calling my name. The gorgeous color, the subtle dot, the ankle cut. These might be my first September purchase:

| Wit & Wisdom Dot Print Denim Leggings, Nordstrom, $64 |
2. Green Pointed-Toe Ballet Flats
Green is my favorite color and I've been looking for the perfect pointed-toe flats, so when I saw these recently, I almost caved and bought them. I'm obsessed, but I'll probably try to find them cheaper somewhere else:

Like, maybe these ones:

3. White Button-Down Shirt
How I don't yet have one of these in my wardrobe is one of the biggest questions I ask myself. I think I always gravitate towards off-white or other colors, and have struggled to find a white button-down that buttoned over my chest without being baggy everywhere else. This fall/winter, I'm going to make an effort to find the perfect button-down. Any suggestions?! Here are some I'm liking right now:

I've noticed that a huge part of shopping for me is stress relief, so I've been doing my best to find other outlets for that stress. So far this week that has included running, baking a pie with hand-picked blackberries, and reading other blogs during my lunch at work instead of visiting online shopping sites.
Just about 10 days to go, and I'm very confident I'll be able to make it!
What items are you craving for fall this year?? Any trends you're going to avoid?

Yay, sounds like your ban is going great! I love that you've been running and baking to fill the time you're not shopping - those are usually my stress relievers too! :) And these wish list items are great - so classic, and I can tell they're items you're really thinking through instead of impulses! The green flats are gorgeous! I'll be interested to see what white shirt you end up finding on your search - I have one or two, but nothing that I think is perfect!
ReplyDeleteAny advice on the white shirt?! I'm seeing these dot pants everywhere - can't tell if I'll give in and buy some on Sept 1, or if I'll think they are too popular right now and I'll wait for something else. We'll see...!
ReplyDeleteI need to see more from where this printed pants trend is coming from. It could be a horrendous, or actually really cool, trend...
ReplyDeleteI too love those green flats!!! We should hit up DSW soon and see if you get lucky, after September 1 of course ;) I am shocked as well that you don't have a good white button up! I had one once a few years ago, on sale from Old Navy, that was so amazing. Really comfortable and flattering. It had a small amount of pleating towards the top which gave it a tish of excitement while serving as the classic staple piece it is. But Zeke washed it with colors and it turned pink. Fail.
I'm not sure about a lot of the patterned pants out there yet. Floral? Eh, not sure I could pull it off. But we'll see - a simple dot seems pretty flawless! And yes - definitely a DSW trip soon! And maybe a hunt-for-the-perfect-white-button-down trip too!!
ReplyDeleteThere's a white oxford at Gap that I've been eyeing, so I might try that one out as soon as the ban is over, but other than that I don't have any good ideas so far. The one you posted from Nordstrom looks nice too, if the Gap one sucks I might check that out next! And those dotted pants are really cute, but I know what you mean - I actually got a pair of green polka dotted jeans during the Anthro sale a few months ago but ended up returning them because I couldn't see myself wearing them past this season.
